The cat’s out of the bag, now…
Now that Zurvita has signed an exclusive deal with one of North America’s premier energy suppliers to market residential energy services in a handful of states under the name ZurvitaChoice, what does that mean for us? That is, besides answering tons of phone calls about all this. (Please, call this number for a recording about it…1-646-222-0013)
First, nothing happens in the sales force until the convention in August, when the plan will be officially rolled out to the marketing reps. In the next 6 weeks, Zurvita staff will be VERY busy preparing sales collateral and figuring out the best way to integrate this type of service into the comp plan. And we should be busy getting our own houses in order.
We have the lessons of the Telecom deregulation to study. Excite went from $0 to nearly $1B in a couple of years after deregulation. One could reasonably argue that the entire communications industry was totally revamped because of deregulation, and large fortunes where made by savvy entrepreneurs who build a cheaper, better phone or service network than Ma Bell had.
Energy deregulation in some states, in case you wondered about it, means that residential customers have the option of buying electricity and gas from more than one company. Just like your phone, one company has the franchise to maintain and deliver the service, but the actual service itself is open to competition. You may have ATT phone service, and your neighbor Verizon, but the phone lines are maintained by a single company under charter from your local government. Energy Deregulation works the same way.
Back to the original question, what does this mean to the average Jane Zurvita rep? It means you need to work VERY hard in the next weeks getting your team in place so that you can concentrate on selling the products and services that will generate massive amounts of residual income over the coming years. If you are still trying to get reps, then you will not have the time and energy (pun intended) to take advantage of the market opening up.
Oh, by the way…
